ConnectEdu and Weidenhammer Systems Corp. Build Data Integration System

High Schools Using CIMS® Student School Management Software Provided Direct Access to Connect!

Boston, MA - August 27, 2007- High schools utilizing Weidenhammer Systems Corporation’s CIMS® Student School Management software system can now access ConnectEdu’s Connect!®, an integrated college and career planning solution. To increase access and improve going-to-college rates statewide, high schools using the CIMS Student Information System will be directly integrated with community colleges, colleges and universities to deliver TRUE ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPTS™ and additional college application materials. More than 1300 schools in 44 states nationwide utilize Weidenhammer System’s CIMS software as well as its alio™ Finance and Human Resource system.

Through Weidenhammer, ConnectEdu contracted with one of their Certified Business Partners, Computer Management Technologies, Inc. (CMT) to develop the interface between CIMS Student and Connect!. As a Weidenhammer Certified Business Partner, CMT provides local support for all of the CIMS Applications in Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota. CMT is familiar with seamlessly interfacing administrative systems to complementing products. “We are always striving to improve administrative processes for our clients that not only benefit the students, but also streamline tasks for those running the schools. With budgetary constraints faced by many within the K-12 environment, simplifying tasks has become a necessity. The integration between CIMS® Student and Connect! truly accomplishes all that we strive to deliver. School staff no longer have to gather papers to copy, fax or mail and students no longer have to pick them up to deliver, saving everyone valuable resources and time,” said Jeanne Fisher, President of CMT.

As they engage in the “going-to-college” process, high school students will now have direct access to some of the nation’s most progressive colleges and universities, including University of Michigan, University of Pittsburgh, Michigan State University, Missouri State University, City University of New York, Rutgers University, Old Dominion University, Towson University, and University of Connecticut. As Connect! continues partnering with more high schools and colleges nationwide, ConnectEdu expects to deliver 1.3 million transcripts in the upcoming admissions cycle.

Unlike other document delivery systems that are limited to PDF format, ConnectEdu is the sole purveyor of an XML transcript solution directly integrated with a secure national network of colleges that follows guidelines set by Post Secondary Education Standards Council (PESC) and the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA).

By safely delivering documents as data points, student information can then be uploaded at the college for automatic GPA recalculation, immediate applicant matching, and instant receipt verification. As a result, admissions offices will spend less time manually processing college applications, will increase relationships with college-bound students, and will ultimately deliver more timely admissions decisions.

“As the electronic documents marketplace continues its movement towards data standards, we’ve concentrated on the delivery of electronic transcripts from the high school student information system to the college SIS,” said ConnectEdu, Inc. President Craig Powell. “In joining forces with Weidenhammer, we’re making it easier than ever for high schools to integrate their systems with our college partners. More importantly for students and families, it means they will benefit from a streamlined process that focuses on their needs at no cost to them.”

ConnectEdu has continued their relationship with Weidenhammer as they have begun to build a similar student interface with SASI, a student management system owned by Pearson School Systems and supported by Weidenhammer. To join Connect! today, utilizing Weidenhammer’s CIMS ® Student School Management software system please visit our website at www.connectedu.net or call 617-532-3000.

Henry Ford Community College First Community College in Michigan to Join Connect!

HFCC Partners with Dearborn School District to Join the Connect! National Network

Boston, MA – July 25, 2007 – ConnectEdu welcomes Henry Ford Community College, the first community college in Michigan to join the Connect! National Network as a result of ConnectEdu’s first high school/community college partnership. Henry Ford Community College is sharing the service fee with Dearborn High Schools to create a data network that will link student information systems among the schools. Joining 8 universities and over 150 high schools in Michigan, Henry Ford Community College now has the ability to receive True Electronic Transcripts from Dearborn High Schools through Connect! – ConnectEdu’s web solution for college admissions, financial aid and career planning. This partnership will streamline the admissions process and create a simplified process for students at Dearborn High Schools.

"This is an exciting project that will help us continue to provide fast, efficient service to our students," said Mark Ulseth, Director of Admissions and Registration at HFCC. "This new data network is another outstanding example of how HFCC partners with its local feeder high schools to provide excellent customer service using the latest technology."

According to Paul Smith, Superintendent for the Dearborn School District, “We are looking forward to working closely with Henry Ford Community College and other area colleges as we provide greater opportunities for our students. Connect!’s cutting-edge web technology offers an advantage to our students and will also benefit parents, counselors and the entire district.”

Although free to high schools, the Dearborn High Schools are sharing the service fee with Henry Ford Community College in a partnership to eliminate the costs of traditionally processing and mailing high school transcripts to the community college where a large percentage of their students already apply. This electronic transcript initiative is a result of ConnectEdu’s partnership with the Council of North Central Two-Year Colleges in which two year schools in the 19 state-organization are invited to partner with ConnectEdu at a lower cost.

Said Craig Powell, President of ConnectEdu, “We’re in the business of connecting high schools to colleges, but this creative collaboration between high schools and a college is new for ConnectEdu. This initiative clearly demonstrates the dire market need to streamline the data exchange between secondary education and higher education. We’re pleased that so many institutions in Michigan are looking to ConnectEdu to address this need.”

“Lindenwood University is pleased to become one of the first universities in the state to partner with ConnectEdu,” said Dr. James Evans, President. “After evaluating all the options available to us, we chose Connect!, not only because it is one of the most efficient and cost-effective solutions, but because ConnectEdu shares our mission to help students. Like ConnectEdu, we encourage all young people to pursue higher education, and by providing Connect! to all high schools in Missouri, we hope to facilitate opportunities for a new generation of college-bound students.”

Lindenwood University is positioned to be one of the first in Missouri to electronically receive application materials, including transcripts and recommendation letters, using XML data exchange. With Connect!’s True Electronic Transcripts™, Lindenwood will have the ability to receive official student transcripts as true data points securely delivered from the high school student information system directly into Lindenwood’s student information system. The electronic exchange eliminates paper and data re-entry, automatically matches applicant files, provides instant receipt verification and allows for GPA recalculation and other automated data functions customized for Lindenwood’s admissions office. By reducing administrative tasks, Connect! gives admissions officers more time to spend with prospects and applicants to build better relationships and, ultimately, facilitates more timely admissions decisions.

Lindenwood University will also modernize their admissions practices with the addition of Connect!’s secure electronic recruitment tools. By joining Connect!’s national network, Lindenwood University will be invited to interact with hundreds of thousands of Connect! users, in Missouri and nationwide, actively engaged in the “going-to-college” process. With criteria that include location, academic performance, extracurricular involvement and reported interests, the search tools allow admissions officers to introduce themselves to students who best map to Lindenwood’s retention data. On a permission-only basis, admissions officers will now be able to build relationships with prospective high school students who would most likely be successful at Lindenwood University based on targeted data at a depth previously unavailable.

Lindenwood University joins a national campaign to provide high schools the Connect! platform at no charge to students, parents or guidance counselors. ConnectEdu will be working with Lindenwood University to begin connecting high schools in Missouri to build a regional network. Additional progressive colleges committed to this initiative include University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Missouri State University, Old Dominion University and Truman State University. By sponsoring the implementation of Connect! in all Missouri high schools and encouraging all Missouri colleges and universities to connect, Lindenwood University demonstrates its commitment to democratizing college admissions and creating greater access to higher education through new technology.

“ConnectEdu is focused on students,” said Craig Powell, President of ConnectEdu. “We created Connect! to empower students as they consider their college options. In one online location, we provide the most comprehensive planning tools as well as information on financing an education. Our goal is to make sure everyone supporting the student has access to the most reliable information; can easily communicate with each other; and will ultimately guide the student in making one of the most important decisions in their life. Our partnership with Lindenwood University represents a major step towards changing the way families in Missouri approach college admissions.”

Connect! Introduces Spanish Translations

ConnectEdu Enhances Connect! v4.3 With A Market-Driven Bilingual Feature

Boston, Mass– May 25, 2007- As Hispanics continue to be the fastest growing demographic segment entering higher education, ConnectEdu is enhancing Connect! – it’s web solution for college admissions, financial aid and career planning – with a new bilingual feature. The most recent version of Connect!, launched this month, has incorporated all Quick Help descriptions in both English and Spanish to help Spanish-speaking families navigate the entire “going to college” process.

According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, the Hispanic population earning bachelor’s degrees increased by 105% in the past decade, faster than any other racial/ethnic group. Of Hispanic students 5-17 years old approaching college age, 71% speak another language at home with their families. In addition, 23% of those students report having difficulty speaking English. Connect!v4.3’s bilingual enhancement was introduced to address the language concerns that are expected to proliferate the education market.

According to ConnectEdu President Craig Powell, “Our mission, like most institutions of higher education, is to create opportunities for young people regardless of their background. The first step in providing access to higher education is providing meaningful information in an understandable format. Our Spanish translations help engage the growing segment of Hispanic families making decisions about going to college.”

Since 2002, Connect! has been creating access to higher education for hundreds of thousands of students by providing all the necessary tools to search for colleges for the best fit; to fulfill application requirements and meet deadlines; to explore financial aid and financing options; and to map a career path based on academic strengths and interests. With its user-friendly management, tracking and communication tools, Connect! unifies students with their high school guidance counselors and college admissions officers at the schools to where they will apply. Unique to any college planning solution available, Connect! also invites parents into the process with their own usernames and passwords to monitor their student’s progress and contribute to the planning.

As more first generation college students from under-represented populations begin the process, the need for more comprehensive information on earning a college education is increasingly vital. Connect! is providing direct access to the steps involved and is inviting families to participate with their students. For Hispanic families, Connect! is now providing additional tools to understand the process with Spanish translations for instructional pages within the platform. Additional enhancements for families in Connect!v4.3 include a more secure registration process, easier navigation, simplified financial aid tutorials, and an expanded library of research, tips and articles on the “going to college” process.

ConnectEdu’s Connect! is the industry-leading web solution for college planning, admissions and financial aid that connects high schools to higher education. For the past five years, ConnectEdu has built a team of individuals, now totaling more than 50 employees spread across the country, dedicated to simplifying the “going to college” process including the new Director of Community College Relations, Dr. Norman K. Myers.

Dr. Myers, President Emeritus, Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, Missouri, brings over 30 years of experience as a Community College President to ConnectEdu. As the founding President at OTC, Dr. Myers led an institution with an initial enrollment of just under 1200 in 1991 to one of the largest community college systems in the Midwest with an enrollment of over 22,000 students. Myers was awarded Community Developer of the Year in 1999 after OTC built a $45 million campus in Springfield. He added OTC extension campuses in Bolivar, Lebanon, St. Robert/Ft. Wood and Branson, Missouri. Dr. Myers also played an instrumental role at OTC in the planning and development of the new $15 million South Campus in Christian County.

Prior to his presidency at Ozarks Technical Community College, Dr. Myers also served as President at Southwestern Community College in Sylva, North Carolina and Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas. In addition to his higher education experience, Myers has served students as an assistant principal and high school teacher. Dr. Myers received his bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri- Columbia. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Community College Association and the Regional Consortium for Educational Technology-Southwest.

Craig Powell, ConnectEdu President and Founder, is excited about adding Dr. Myers to the team at ConnectEdu. “We are thrilled that Dr. Myers has joined the ConnectEdu team. With over 30 years of experience leading community colleges, he understands the challenges and opportunities that face counselors and advisors at two-year institutions. He shares our passion for wanting to empower students, parents and counselors and make both the going-to-college and the transfer process less complicated for our students. Dr. Myers will be instrumental as we continue to serve more community colleges nationwide,” said Powell.

Dr. Myers is one of several education professionals to recently join ConnectEdu from colleges and community colleges. “When we talk to admissions directors and enrollment management staff, we have a better understanding of their needs and concerns due to our own experience in those roles,” said Powell. “As we grow rapidly this year, we are making sure to not lose sight of our #1 priority – assisting students with one of the most important decisions of their lives. Many of the talented folks we have hired have been doing that their entire professional lives,” said Powell.

ConnectEdu Launches The Connect! Career Network™

A Data-based Career-Mapping Feature Added to Connect!

Boston, Mass. – May 7, 2007– ConnectEdu, the nation’s leading provider of innovative college planning, admissions and financial aid solutions, announced today at the WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference the launch of the Connect! Career Network, an upcoming enhancement to the Connect! online portal. Already a market-leading web solution to help students map their future education plans, Connect! will now include a comprehensive career component that will guide students to a career choice that connects data-based academic strengths and preferred interests to job skills, employer needs and actual employment opportunities. ConnectEdu is currently partnering with progressive employers to create the national network and begin building relationships with the next generation of the workforce.

According to Craig Powell, President and Founder of ConnectEdu,
“As a result of working closely with employers, high schools and colleges, we learned that there is a gap in the ability to effectively assist students with career path planning and execution. Since we integrate directly with verified academic data, we are able to drive career choices based on actual performance and identified skills sets, as opposed to arbitrary, self-reported inventory tools that are not valued or used by students. Guidance counselors have told us they need more reliable career tools and employers have said current solutions don’t work when it comes to building relationships with the future workforce. Our extending of Connect! to include comprehensive career planning is a natural progression in our mission to assist students through successful education and life transitions.”

This Fall, students using Connect! will be invited into the Connect! Career Network at no cost to begin planning their future. In addition to college planning, Connect! will drive career paths to students based on their skills and identified interests. Connect! will then familiarize students with possible career choices; recommend applicable curriculum and programs of study; suggest appropriate community colleges, colleges and universities to begin study; and identify employers specializing in the student’s industries of interest. Employers will join the network to meet and mentor students interested in their field, their organization and opportunities including scholarships, internships and job opportunities. With hundreds of thousands of students and employers across the U.S. participating, the Connect! Career Network will foster improved student planning and counselor monitoring, relationship development and mentoring opportunities between career professionals and students, and, over time, the creation of a thoughtful, diverse career pipeline.

Towson University First in Maryland to Partner with ConnectEdu

Partnerships Brings Connect!, a Web-Based Solution for College Planning and Admissions, to Maryland

Boston, Mass- April 5, 2007- ConnectEdu, the nation’s leading provider of innovative college planning, admissions and financial aid solutions, announced its partnership with Towson University, the second largest public university in Maryland, to deploy the Connect! online portal. As the first institution of higher education in the state to introduce Connect!, Towson University will lead the initiative to support Maryland high school students, parents and guidance counselors in the college planning and application process, while modernizing admissions.

Towson University joins a national network of high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities that have embraced the unique web-based service to simplify the “going to college” process for everyone engaged in student success. Designed with customized online tools for each user channel, Connect! provides one centralized platform that, for the first time, systematically connects secondary education to higher education through secure web technology.

“Towson University is pleased to become the first university in the state to partner with ConnectEdu,” said Louise Shulack, Director of Admissions. “After evaluating all the options available to us, we chose Connect!, not only because it is one of the most efficient and cost-effective solutions, but because ConnectEdu shares our mission to help students. Like ConnectEdu, we encourage all young people to pursue higher education and by providing Connect! to all high schools in Maryland, we hope to create meaningful opportunities for a new generation of college-bound students.”

Towson University is positioned to be the first in Maryland to electronically receive application materials, including transcripts and recommendation letters, using XML data exchange. With Connect!’s True Electronic Transcripts™, Towson will have the ability to receive official student transcripts as true data points securely delivered from the high school student information system directly into Towson’s student information system. The electronic exchange eliminates paper and data re-entry, automatically matches applicant files, provides instant receipt verification and allows for GPA recalculation and other automated data functions customized for Towson’s admissions office. By reducing administrative tasks, Connect! provides admissions officers more time to spend with prospects and applicants to build better relationships and, ultimately, facilitates more timely admissions decisions.

Towson University will also modernize their admissions practices with the addition of Connect!’s secure electronic recruitment tools. By joining Connect!’s national network, Towson University will be invited to interact with hundreds of thousands of Connect! users, in Maryland and nationwide, actively engaged in the “going-to-college” process. With criteria that includes location, academic performance, extracurricular involvement and reported interests, the search tools allow admissions officers to introduce themselves to students who best map to Towson’s retention data. On a permission-only basis, admissions officers will now be able to build relationships with prospective high school students who would most likely be successful at Towson University based on targeted data at a depth previously unavailable.

Towson University joins a national campaign to provide high schools the Connect! platform at no charge to students, parents or guidance counselors. ConnectEdu will be working with Towson University to begin connecting high schools in Maryland to build a regional network. Additional progressive colleges committed to this initiative include University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Missouri State University, Old Dominion University and Truman State University. By sponsoring the implementation of Connect! in all Maryland high schools and encouraging all Maryland colleges and universities to connect, Towson University demonstrates its commitment to democratizing college admissions and creating greater access to higher education through new technology.

“ConnectEdu is focused on students.” said Craig Powell, President of ConnectEdu. “We created Connect! to empower students as they consider their college options. In one on-line location, we provide the most comprehensive planning tools as well as information on financing an education. Our goal is to make sure everyone supporting the student has access to the most reliable information; can easily communicate with each other; and will ultimately guide the student in making one of the most important decisions in their life. Our partnership with Towson University represents a major step towards changing the way families in Maryland approach college admissions.”

Part of a nationwide mission, ten institutions of higher education and nearly seventy five high schools in the state have created a secure online network to improve college access, by simplifying the “going to college” process for everyone involved. The latest high schools in the Springfield area to join the Connect! network include Springfield Catholic HS, Greenwood Lab, Branson, Hollister, Seymour, Marshfield, Lebanon, Clever, Ozark, Republic, Exeter, Verona, Bradleyville, Ash Grove, Conway, Crane, Mansfield, Miller and Pleasant Hope.

For colleges and universities, in addition to the paperless network that Connect! is creating in Missouri, additional key benefits of using Connect! include:

- Savings between $14-$25 in processing expenses per application
- Receiving a True Electronic Transcript™ with actual data points that are sent directly into a college/university SIS system to be stored, viewed, or printed
- 95% savings in application related labor
- Automated GPA recalculation
- Tracking student retention from Connect! data

Based on current high school implementations in Missouri, Missouri colleges and universities will save $4.5 million dollars this year. “We are committed to working with Missouri State University and Ozarks technical Community College and their partner high schools to improve this process for all involved, and are thrilled that such forward-thinking institutions have decided to partner with us to improve access for college bound students,” said ConnectEdu President Craig Powell.

The unprecedented growth of Connect! in Missouri is particularly momentous for Powell, ConnectEdu President and Founder. Powell is a native of Maryville, MO and a 1995 graduate of Maryville High School. Powell’s own experiences with the college planning process led him to establish ConnectEdu back in 2002. The former Maryville wrestler is now committed to providing students and parents the tools they need to make informed college planning and financial aid decisions.

ConnectEdu currently has five full time staff members working with both high school and college partners in the state of Missouri.

ConnectEdu and Rediker Software Join Forces

Building a New Data Integration System To Improve Access to Higher Education

Boston, Mass- March 19, 2007 - A new data integration relationship between ConnectEdu, Inc. and Rediker Software, Inc. has created a seamless data delivery system for high schools managing student data with Rediker’s school management software system. Rediker Software has developed a simple export process for student data to seamlessly integrate with ConnectEdu’s Connect! – a free web solution for college planning, admissions and financial aid available to high schools. To increase access and improve going-to-college rates statewide, high schools will be directly integrated with community colleges, colleges and universities to deliver TRUE ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPTS™ and additional college application materials.

According to Rediker Software’s CEO and founder, Richard Rediker, “This promises to be a terrific partnership, and the timing couldn’t be better. Teaming up with ConnectEdu was the logical next step in our ongoing mission to connect students with opportunity via technology. We applaud, and will emulate, ConnectEdu’s business plan to provide this critical college connectivity to high schools at no cost. This is just the beginning of what Rediker and ConnectEdu, working together, can do for our schools.”

As they engage in the “going-to-college” process, high school students will now have direct access to some of the nation’s most progressive colleges and universities, including University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Missouri State University, Truman State University, Rutgers University and University of Connecticut. As Connect! continues partnering with more high schools and colleges nationwide, ConnectEdu expects to deliver 1.3 million transcripts in the upcoming admissions cycle.

Unlike other document delivery systems that are limited to .pdf format, ConnectEdu is the sole purveyor of an XML transcript solution directly integrated with a secure national network of colleges that follows guidelines set by Post Secondary Education Standards Council (PESC) and the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA).

“As the electronic documents marketplace continues its movement towards data standards, we’ve concentrated on the delivery of electronic transcripts from the high school student information system to the college SIS.” said ConnectEdu, Inc. President and Founder Craig Powell. “In joining forces with Rediker, we’re making it easier than ever for high schools to integrate their systems with our college partners. More importantly for students and families, it means they will benefit from a streamlined process that focuses on their needs at no cost to them.”
