Truman State University Joins Connect!'s National "Going to College" Network

Truman State University Partners with ConnectEdu to Deploy Connect!

Boston, Mass. – January 8, 2007 – ConnectEdu, a national provider of innovative college planning and admissions solutions, today announced its partnership with Truman State University to deploy the Connect!® online portal, which will support students, parents and guidance counselors in the college planning and application process, while modernizing admissions for Missouri’s only highly selective statewide public liberal arts and sciences university.

Truman State University joins a national network of high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities that have embraced the unique web-based service to simplify the “going to college” process for everyone engaged in student success. Designed with customized online tools for each user category, Connect! provides one centralized platform that, for the first time, systematically connects secondary education to higher education. Truman State University will begin electronically processing application materials, including transcripts and recommendation letters, and also begin meeting new students through Connect!’s secure, gated community.

“Truman State University is committed to modernizing college admissions for our applicants through new innovation.” said John Fraire, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. “We explored other options and found that Connect! was the only comprehensive technology solution that put students first. At no cost, students are welcomed into the community and provided online tools that eliminate the complexity of admissions. By exposing more students to a streamlined application process, we are looking forward to building greater access.”

Truman State University joins a national campaign to provide high schools the Connect! platform at no charge to students, parents or guidance counselors. Additional progressive colleges committed to this initiative include University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Missouri State University. By sponsoring the implementation of Connect! in high schools, Truman State University demonstrates its commitment to democratizing college admissions and creating greater access to higher education through new technology.

“ConnectEdu is focused on students.” said Craig Powell, President of ConnectEdu. “We created Connect! to simplify this entire process so everyone involved in helping the student succeed has more opportunity to guide them as they make one of the most important decisions in their life. Our partnership with Truman represents another step towards changing the way families approach college admissions.”
