ConnectEdu Integrates Michigan

SchoolsOPEN L.L.C. to Build Data Integration System with Connect!

Boston, Mass- April 25, 2007- ConnectEdu, Inc. is pleased to announce a new data integration relationship with SchoolsOpen, one of Michigan’s leading developers of high school student information systems. SchoolsOpen has designed a simple export process for student data to seamlessly integrate with ConnectEdu’s Connect! – a free web solution for college planning, admissions and financial aid available to high school students, parents and guidance counselors. To increase access and improve going to college rates statewide, high schools will be directly integrated with community colleges, colleges and universities to deliver TRUE ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPTS™ and additional college application materials. SchoolsOpen represents 75 school districts throughout the state including Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, Flint Community Schools, Genesee Intermediate School District, Grand Blanc Community Schools, and Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools.

“SchoolsOPEN has always taken pride in providing a quality service and good value for the school districts of Michigan. Allowing schools to leverage the information they have stored in their existing systems provides a significant value without requiring any duplication of effort. We are excited to partner with ConnectEdu to offer SchoolsOPEN clients a free service that will provide useful information for families, high schools and institutions of higher learning,” said Richard S. Havourd III, Owner, SchoolsOPEN.

Unlike other document delivery systems that are limited to .pdf format, ConnectEdu is the sole purveyor of an XML transcript solution directly integrated with a secure national network of colleges which follows guidelines set by The Post Secondary Education Standards Council (PESC) and the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA). By safely delivering documents as data points, student information can then be uploaded at the college for automatic GPA recalculation, immediate applicant matching, and instant receipt verification. As a result, admissions offices will spend less time manually processing college applications, will increase relationships with college-bound students, and will ultimately deliver more timely admissions decisions. ConnectEdu expects to exchange an estimated 360,000 transcripts in the state of Michigan during the 2007 admissions cycle.

As they engage in the “going to college” process, Michigan students will now have direct access to ConnectEdu’s college partners in Michigan including the University of Michigan– Ann Arbor, Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, Northern Michigan University, Wayne State University, University of Michigan- Dearborn, and the University of Michigan- Flint. Students are also connected with college partners in the national network including University of Connecticut, Rutgers University, and Old Dominion University. As additional high schools and colleges join the national network, ConnectEdu expects to deliver 1.3m transcripts in the next admissions cycle.

“As we continue to participate in the movement toward data standards, we are in the interim concentrating on providing a more streamlined electronic data exchange process for high schools and colleges,” said ConnectEdu, Inc. President and Founder Craig Powell. “Across Michigan, our data network between the states high schools and colleges can save our College Partners up to $5M in annual transcript processing expenses. More importantly, students applying to colleges within the network will experience a faster, more secure and favorable method for sending documents to colleges. This is a win, win, win for all involved in the going-to-college process.”
