Central Michigan University Joins Connect!

Central Michigan University Becomes the 9th College Partner in the state of Michigan

Mount Pleasant, MI– September 7, 2007– ConnectEdu, a leader in web-based college and career planning solutions and integrated admissions services, today announced its partnership with Central Michigan University, the ninth institution of higher education in Michigan to join the Connect! National Network™. With a robust regional network already established in the state, including more than 200 high schools, community colleges and leading four-year universities, Central Michigan University further strengthens the statewide initiative to create a streamlined, paperless admissions process for students in Michigan.

After exploring options in the marketplace to simplify admissions workflow, Central Michigan University selected ConnectEdu’s Connect!, an integrated web-based college and career planning solution. This fall, the university will begin exchanging electronic transcripts and recommendation letters between its admissions office and participating Michigan high schools. This direct integration not only facilitates data flow between secondary and post-secondary institutions, but automates tracking and opens a direct line of communication between high schools and the university.

“Central Michigan University is excited about working with additional high schools in Michigan to bring Connect! to them at no charge,” said Marcie Otteman, CMU’s Associate Director of Admissions. “Our goal is to integrate electronically with all the high schools that traditionally mail us thousands of paper admissions documents annually. This service simplifies the process for families and counselors and, as a result, our admissions staff can reduce administrative tasks and spend more time interacting with students.”

In addition to strengthening the statewide Connect! Network in Michigan, Central Michigan University joins a national network of high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities working with Connect! to enhance college access and simplify college admissions.

“ConnectEdu is focused on enhancing student success while ensuring that college admissions offices improve efficiencies,” said Craig Powell, President of ConnectEdu. “We work with our partners to build a bridge between high schools and higher education by providing families the tools to inform decision-making and by connecting them to colleges and universities throughout the process. Our partnership with Central Michigan University is a further step in maximizing higher education opportunities for Michigan students.”
