ConnectEDU Partners with CollegeZapps to Simplify the College Application Process

Latest Version of Connect! Allows Students to Apply to Over 1,000 Colleges

(Boston, MA) December 9, 2008 – ConnectEDU, Inc., (www.connectedu.net) the Web-based leader in connecting students with colleges and employers through the nation’s largest college and career planning network, has partnered with industry leader CollegeZapps to bring students in the ConnectEDU National Network™ a prolific, online application tool. With this partnership, students in the network will now have the ability to apply to over 1,000 colleges using CollegeZapps, including nearly every four year institution in the country.

“Our partnership with CollegeZapps is the first step toward our goal of providing the industry’s first solution to deliver a complete application package electronically,” said ConnectEDU President and CEO, Craig Powell. “Counselors have realized the benefits of utilizing integrated data in their college planning programs. At ConnectEDU, we are now committed to taking that one step further and providing colleges with the application integration services necessary to make the entire application process paperless, and creating one secure, single location for both counselors and colleges to verify the receipt of all application documents. ”

Through the integration with CollegeZapps, students save time as they are able to complete multiple applications from filling out one application/interview. With the average student applying to 6-8 colleges, this integration eliminates the redundancy of manually completing multiple applications. In addition, student information from the transcript data is pre-populated in the application saving students additional time.

“At CollegeZapps, we strive to minimize the inefficiencies in the college application process,” said CollegeZapps CEO, David Kenney. “With the integration of CollegeZapps in both Connect! and Prep HeadQuarters, hundreds of thousands of students will now have the ability to conveniently complete multiple applications at once, allowing them to spend more time on other aspects of the process such as visiting colleges or writing essays.”

The CollegeZapps application tool in Connect! and Prep HeadQuarters is now available. ConnectEDU anticipates integration with other application providers interested in partnering to deliver a seamless application process to students, counselors, and colleges.

High School Saves $10K By Going Green with ConnectEDU

ConnectEDU Green Paper Examines Eco-Friendly Perspectives in College Admission

(Boston, MA) October 13, 2008 – ConnectEDU, Inc., (www.connectedu.net) the Web-based leader in connecting students with colleges and employers through the nation’s largest college and career planning network, announces the release of the Green Paper “Why 2008 is the Year of Green Admissions”. In addition to outlining how high schools begin saving $10,000 off their budget, the report includes results from a survey administered to college-bound students in the ConnectEDU National Network™ during the Spring of 2008. Members of the greenest generation, the students surveyed provide opinions on the environment, green colleges, and eco-friendly college admission processes. Also included, is a case study with data on cost savings and paper reduction from a high school using ConnectEDU’s web solution for eco-friendly college admission. The survey is available for download at www.StudentsPlantTheSeed.com, ConnectEDU’s website dedicated to information on paperless admission.

As reported in the Green Paper, a vast majority of college-bound students are generally concerned about the environment with recycling and reduction topping the list of personal actions they take. While a significant number report that they will choose a college based on its general green practices, a clear majority indicate they would like to apply to a college that reduces paper in the admission process.

“The results reported in our Green Paper clearly demonstrate that high schools are being proactive about their budgets and that college choice is becoming tied to the college’s ability to implement green solutions,” said ConnectEDU President and CEO, Craig Powell. “Something as pragmatic and cost-effective as moving data electronically from the high school to the college can have a significant impact on how a college presents itself to prospective students. Students want change and colleges are not only listening, but doing something about it.”

Currently, over 260 colleges are practicing Green Admissions with ConnectEDU by eliminating the delivery of paper transcripts and recommendation letters – which is estimated to total 7.5m sheets each year. University of Vermont, Michigan State University, and University of Iowa are just a few leaders in this movement now receiving electronic admissions documents from 2,000 high schools across the U.S.

ConnectEDU Introduces Connect! SuperAPP™

First Comprehensive Electronic Solution for Application for Admission to Deliver All Required Documents

September 27, 2008- ConnectEDU, Inc., (www.connectedu.net) the Web-based leader in connecting students with colleges and employers through the nation’s largest college and career planning network, announces the industry’s first web solution that allows applicants for admission to electronically deliver all required documents together. Connect! SuperAPP™, introduced at the Annual NACAC Conference in Seattle, provides students with the ability to send all required admission documents to colleges electronically including the completion of a flexible pre-populated application form, official transcript, letters of recommendation, the college essay, an electronic portfolio and high school profile. In addition, counselors, parents, students, and admission officers will manage and track all of admission documents, their deadlines, and their delivery in one secure, online location.

“By including all of the documents required in a college application in Connect! SuperAPP, we are creating one electronic application with all supplemental documents packaged together to streamline the process for students and families,” said ConnectEDU President and CEO, Craig Powell. “Traditionally in the admission process, the experience for counselors and families is fragmented and requires multiple paper forms or documents, often combined with some information submitted electronically – a system that is not cost-effective, environmentally sustainable nor immediate in terms of verification and confirmation. Now with Connect! SuperAPP, students, parents and counselors can manage the entire process electronically.”

Also, Connect! SuperAPP will allow colleges and universities to receive all application materials from one secure location, automatically matching a student’s complete electronic application to their unique record and integrating directly with their imaging system and/or student information system as desired. By eliminating paper documents as well as multiple sources of student information, admission officials will improve their ability to review a complete student admission application and render a timely admission decision.

ConnectEDU announces that Connect! SuperAPP™ will be available in early 2009. For more information on ConnectEDU, call 888.887.8380 or visit www.connectedu.net.

ConnectEDU Approved For Transmittal of A+ Certified Transcripts

(Boston, MA), June 3, 2008– ConnectEDU, Inc, is pleased to announce that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, A+ School/Charter Schools Office has approved ConnectEDU for the transmittal of A+ certified transcripts. ConnectEDU, a comprehensive education solution vendor, has met the necessary Missouri requirements to provide secure transmittal of these documents by both meeting the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) standards and complying with Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC). Hundreds of Missouri high schools are now able to transmit secure electronic transcripts to colleges at no cost when they join the Connect! National Network™.

According to Dr. James Kellerman, Executive Director & CEO of the Missouri Community College Association, “For over two years, community colleges in Missouri have watched as colleges across the country have joined us in modernizing admissions by receiving electronic transcripts from high schools through the Connect! platform. With ConnectEDU’s approval to transmit A+ certified transcripts, we can continue to build a robust network between high schools and colleges to simplify access to higher education.”

Within ConnectEDU’s Connect! platform, the A+ designation will be indicated on the transcript replacing the A+ seal, as certified by the A+ coordinator at participating high schools. This designation on the A+ transcript will also serve as proper indication to participating community colleges and career technical schools that the student meets the requirements of the A+ program. Prior to this approval, high schools had to process and send paper transcripts.

“This is a milestone for students in Missouri,” said Craig Powell, President & CEO of ConnectEDU. “Using technology to streamline the admissions process breaks down barriers to a college degree. ConnectEDU is proud to have a role in that process.”

Students Plant The Seed Goes Live

ConnectEdu Promotes New Website for Students to Go Green in College Admissions By Eliminating 755,000,000 Paper Admissions Documents

(Boston, MA) May 12, 2008 – ConnectEdu, a leader in integrated web solutions for curriculum, college and career planning, is providing eco-conscious students a collective voice to encourage eco-friendly college admissions. StudentsPlantTheSeed.com was designed to address the fact that an estimated three quarters of a billion paper documents are processed annually for college admissions nationwide. Without a choice, students are required by colleges to produce enough paper collectively to circle the globe 5 times around. This new web site provides a mechanism for students to let high schools and colleges know they want to stop using paper in college admissions through solutions provided by ConnectEdu.

StudentsPlantTheSeed.com presents the environmental issues resulting from paper-based college recruiting materials and applications. StudentsPlantTheSeed.com also has a petition tool to alert high school administrators of the issues and request action to seek alternatives to processing paper documents. Students also communicate to admission offices at the colleges to where they intend to apply. In addition to voicing concern, these student petitions will also direct decision-makers at the institutions to ConnectEdu’s web solutions such as Connect! - a web platform which connects students and admission officers online and delivers electronic admission documents. Students, parents, counselors and admissions officers using Connect! comprise the Connect! National Network™ dedicated to streamlining college admissions.

Students already using Connect! as a green solution at their high school have additional insight into green admissions practices. A new green admissions rating system is showcased on each of the platform’s 4,200 colleges profiles. Colleges not practicing green admissions have multiple chopped tree icons, based on the number of total applications, to inform students that paper processing is required. Connect! students are then directed to StudentsPlantTheSeed.com where they can communicate their concern to that college’s admission office and encourage the college to join the network.

As part of the launch of StudentsPlantTheSeed.com, ConnectEdu is financing 1,000 tree plantings, representing each high school in the United States, which has already adopted Connect! for greener admissions. ConnectEdu will continue to plant a tree for each high school or college that joins the Connect! National Network™ as a result of student outreach using StudentsPlantTheSeed.com.

“It’s no secret that students applying to college are part of the greenest generation of our time,” said Craig Powell, President & CEO of ConnectEdu. “It should also be no surprise that making them submit paper documents is a real problem for them, which is influencing their college choice. We feel giving them a platform to be heard, along with a solution they can communicate, empowers students in a way that’s never been done before.”

Currently, 350,000 students in 1,000 high schools across 41 states are going green by using Connect! for college planning. Currently, 175 colleges have joined them in the Connect! National Network™ to build greener admissions. For more information call 888.887.8380 or log on to: StudentsPlantTheSeed.com.

ConnectEdu Launches the Greenest Version of Connect!

GreenConnect! Allows Colleges and High Schools to Go Green with Features to Eliminate the 755,000,000 Admissions Documents Processed Annually

(Boston, MA) Earth Day, April 22, 2008- ConnectEdu is launching GreenConnect! to all high schools and colleges in the Connect! National Network ™ with new features designed for today’s eco-conscious generation of college-bound students and the colleges who want to meet them. Focusing on unprecedented Enrollment Marketing, the innovations in GreenConnect! build data-driven connections between college recruiters and students searching for colleges online. For students, ConnectEdu has introduced new “GREENER ADMISSION ratings” for the 4,200colleges it presents to students in the college search process. For colleges, enrollment marketing is enhanced with better communication, more levels of data, and new relationship management tools. This new version of Connect! changes how students approach college admissions by giving them more insight and an active voice in the recruitment process. GreenConnect! will be live to all users in early May.

As part of a national Go Green initiative, ConnectEdu is introducing enhanced web services to accomplish admissions tasks that have traditionally been paper-based processes. The new Enrollment Marketing feature in Connect! allows students to build comprehensive profiles that integrate their academic transcript, accomplishments, activities and interests. Once published, students give colleges the opportunity to meet them using multiple points of verified data. Connect!’s enhanced search tools match colleges with students who meet the college’s enrollment goals. On an opt-in basis, students in as early as the ninth grade, can begin enrollment relationships with a college admission officer to explore these opportunities. As a result of this targeted data and electronic communication, Connect! eliminates the delivery of multiple unsolicited direct mail pieces, therefore reducing paper-based enrollment marketing.

Colleges who have implemented green practices into their college admissions are now able to highlight these initiatives to students in Connect! in the college search. New “GREENER ADMISSION ratings” are built into each of the 4,200 college profiles presented to Connect! students. Colleges using Connect! who have begun enrollment marketing in Connect! and have begun receiving electronic admissions documents are rated based on the institution’s level of data implementation, coupled with the number of applications they process annually. Green tree icons represent the number of applications being affected. It is estimated that 755 million sheets of paper are processed in college admissions each year from recruitment to matriculation. Gold, silver and bronze awards denote the college’s level of electronic document exchange used to reduce this paper. Colleges not practicing green admissions are represented by chopped trees. Students can send direct notifications to those colleges to express concern and encourage them to adopt green admissions practices.

“Colleges across the country are building green initiatives into their campus life,” said Craig Powell, President & CEO of ConnectEdu, Inc. “From examining waste management to energy conservation, colleges are taking steps to go green but are ignoring the harm to the environment that results from paper in the admissions process. Our goal is to show colleges how easily they can join our partners and implement greener enrollment and admissions practices and to show students how they can have a voice in the process.”

High School Goes Green With Connect!

Maynard High School Integrates with Connect! For "Green College Admissions": A National Initiative to Eliminate Over 750 Million Paper Documents Each Year

(Maynard, MA) March 26, 2008 - Maynard High School is going green with Connect! – the nation’s leading web solution for curriculum, college and career planning. Part of a national initiative to eliminate an estimated 750 million pieces of paper processed annually for college admissions, Maynard High School has joined the Connect! National Network™ in partnership with Boston-based ConnectEdu, Inc. to provide students and families with easy to use and comprehensive college and career planning technology tools. At no cost, all students, parents, and counselors are invited to introduce green initiatives into their college admissions process. With Connect!, students eliminate the exchange of paper-based recruiting publications and streamline admissions with the secure delivery of electronic admissions documents, including transcripts and letters of recommendation.

“For decades the college admissions process has remained nearly untouched. Despite dealing with the most environmentally-conscious college-bound generation, families have been asked to produce increasingly more paper documents,” said Maynard High School Guidance Counselor, Korey Barkley. “Connect! engages them in a comprehensive process that not only facilitates college access with must-have tools and resources for college planning, but is designed as a green solution. Everything can be accomplished in a single online environment – and at a fraction of the time and cost.”

ConnectEdu provides Connect! to high schools at no charge to:

Reduce Recruitment Waste
Connect! revolutionizes college recruitment by giving the student a well-informed voice in the process. Counselors and students collaborate on a curriculum plan for grades 9-12 that integrates academic strengths, identified interests, and career goals. Communication tools between counselors, students, and parents within Connect! allow for tracking progress against this individualized education plan. Then during college planning, Connect! uses the integrated student data to help create a list of best-fitting colleges. Students build recruitment relationships with the colleges of their choice to gather targeted information and eliminate the need for cumbersome and unsolicited recruitment brochures and guidebooks.

Eliminate Paper Admissions Documents
Connect! revolutionizes college admissions by streamlining the process of applying to college and the college’s application processing. Once the student has finalized the list of colleges to where they will apply, Connect! helps manage the tasks and deadlines for the family. During the application process, students can easily request and counselors can securely deliver electronic transcripts and letters of recommendation through Connect! to eliminate printing and mailing. Connect! automatically notifies counselors, students, family members and colleges of the progress in every step along the way.

Explore College Financing Electronically
As college financing has become an increasingly important and challenging component in college planning, Connect! has introduced a comprehensive online college financial planning resource. In one location, families can determine their cost gap and explore financing options to meet that gap. A national and local scholarship finder are available in addition to a unique budgeting tool that integrates career earnings information with anticipated debt burden. Families are also provided with interactive tools designed to assist in the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so they can apply accurately online to the government.

“We know our students are concerned about how they affect the environment and applying to college is no exception,” said Craig Powell, President & CEO of ConnectEdu, Inc. “We set out to help high schools and colleges work together to change how students approach college admissions. It is our partnership with schools like Maynard High School that is making a greener admissions process a reality.”

Colleges in the Connect! National Network™ have provided sponsorship of 1,000 high school implementations across the country to gain the benefits of Connect! at no cost. Progressive New England colleges that are already receiving electronic admissions documents through Connect! include: University of Massachusetts-Boston, University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Newbury College, Quincy College, Roxbury Community College, Bunker Hill Community College, Massasoit Community College, Massachusetts Bay Community College, Boston University, Clark University, Daniel Webster College, University of Vermont, University of Connecticut, Quinnipiac University, University of New Haven. Adds David Coates, School Counselor at Kenmore East High School, “Our students are engaged with Connect! because they get a stronger voice in planning their future. The integrated tools offer a bigger picture of an individual pathway, and with the guidance of their counselors and parents, they can follow it successfully.” Niagara University has sponsored over twenty “feeder” high schools, which traditionally send students to the university each year. By providing Connect! to high schools, Niagara University is committed to building access to higher education for students in New York by introducing:

Integrated Curriculum Planning
Connect! revolutionizes college recruitment by giving the student a well-informed voice in the process. Counselors and students collaborate on a curriculum plan for grades 9-12 that integrates academic strengths, identified interests, and career goals. Communication tools between counselors, students, and parents within Connect! allow for tracking progress against this individualized education plan. Then during college planning, Connect! uses the integrated student data to help create a list of best-fitting colleges from the nation’s 4,200 institutions. Students build recruitment relationships with the colleges of their choice to gather targeted information and eliminate the need for cumbersome and unsolicited recruitment brochures and guidebooks.

Modern College and Career Planning
Connect! revolutionizes college admissions by streamlining the process of applying to college and the college’s application processing. Once the student has finalized the list of colleges to where they will apply based on the major of interest and relevant career paths, Connect! helps manage the tasks and deadlines for the family. During the application process, students can easily request and counselors can securely deliver electronic transcripts and letters of recommendation through Connect! to eliminate printing and mailing. Connect! automatically notifies counselors, students, family members and colleges of the progress in every step along the way.

Smart College Financing
As college financing has become an increasingly important and challenging component in college planning, Connect! has introduced a comprehensive online college financial planning resource. In one location, families can determine their cost gap and explore financing options to meet that gap. A student loan marketplace and a scholarship finder are available in addition to a unique budgeting tool that integrates career earnings information with anticipated debt burden. Families are also provided with interactive tools designed to assist in the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so they can apply accurately online to the government.

“In working with counselors who have a 500:1 student ratio, we know that many families enter this process with no idea how to begin,” said Craig Powell, President & CEO of ConnectEdu, Inc. “We set out to make sure every family is empowered with information, resources and tools to not only begin the process earlier, but to be successful in the end. Forward-thinking institutions like Niagara University are leading the way to building a democratized college admissions process one high school at a time.”

Colleges in the Connect! National Network™ have provided sponsorship of over 1,000 high school implementations across the country to gain the benefits of Connect! at no cost. ConnectEdu Partners with University of Vermont To Build College Access and Streamline College Admissions

(Boston, MA) – February 20, 2008 – ConnectEdu, the nation’s leading provider of innovative curriculum, college and career planning solutions, has announced its partnership with the University of Vermont to deploy the Connect!® online platform. As one of the first universities in northern New England to introduce this web platform, the University of Vermont will help lead the state initiative to guide Vermont’s high school students, parents and guidance counselors in the transitions from high school to college to career.

The University of Vermont joins a national network of high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities that have embraced the unique web-based service to streamline efficiencies in college admissions. The Connect! National Network™ is also focused on building access to higher education by introducing resources and tools to help families, regardless of background, make informed decisions.

To streamline the college admissions process, Connect!® provides one centralized platform that, for the first time, systematically connects secondary education to higher education through secure web technology. The University of Vermont along with Castleton State College in Vermont are positioned to be the first in Vermont to begin electronically receiving application materials, including transcripts and letters of recommendation, using XML data exchange and will also begin meeting new students through Connect!®’s secure, gated community. Additional New England colleges including University of Massachusetts, Lowell; University of Massachusetts, Boston; and University of Connecticut are also part of this regional initiative.

“ConnectEdu is a big step forward,” said Chris Lucier, the University of Vermont’s Vice President for Enrollment Management. “Not only does it reduce paperwork in high schools and college admissions offices, allowing us to focus on more important tasks and have more face time with students, it also has the potential to raise college aspiration levels to make the college and financial aid process not seem so daunting, especially for first generation families.”

To build college access, ConnectEdu is partnering with U.S. colleges and universities for a national campaign to provide high schools the Connect!® platform at no charge to students, parents or guidance counselors. ConnectEdu will be working in Vermont to begin connecting high schools in Vermont to build a regional network. Additional progressive colleges committed to this national initiative include Rutgers University, Old Dominion University, University of Kansas, University of Iowa, University of Michigan and University of Missouri. By sponsoring the implementation of Connect!® in all Vermont high schools and encouraging all Vermont colleges and universities to connect, the University of Vermont and Castleton State College demonstrate their commitment to democratizing college admissions and creating greater access to higher education through new technology.

“ConnectEdu is focused on students,” said Craig Powell, President and Chief Executive Officer of ConnectEdu. “We created Connect! to make sure every student in the country, regardless of their ability to pay, was equipped with the resources and tools to make informed decisions as they transition from high school to college to careers. Our partnerships with the University of Vermont and Castleton State College represent a major step towards changing the way students in Vermont approach their future.”

ConnectEdu Introduces The Winter Version of Connect!

Version 5.1 Provides Alternative Funding Sources for Students and Families

(Boston, MA)–February 15, 2008
- Today, ConnectEdu, a leader in college and career planning solutions, has introduced the winter version of Connect! - its web-based solution for curriculum, college and career planning deployed in over 1,000 high schools nationwide. Available immediately for students, parents and counselors upon login, Connect! v5.1 is highlighted by innovative and timely tools for families to manage their college finances and for counselors to send electronic admissions documents to colleges.

Connect!’s College Finance Manager (CFM) has been redeveloped with enhancements that provide students and their families with access to alternative funding sources and a student loan marketplace that offers families, burdened by a struggling economy, with reduced rate loans. “As the marketplace continues to be affected by the lack of available credit, the subprime-mortgage crisis and the removal of subsidies to lenders, we are seeing student loan providers quickly abandon the student loan industry,” said ConnectEdu President and Chief Executive Officer, Craig Powell. From nonprofit agencies to major state sponsored student loan programs, lenders are finding it too difficult to continue to underwrite student loans. “Never has the need for educating families about funding choices for education been more critical, in particular for students and families with the greatest need,” said Powell.

For Students & Parents
Connect!’s College Finance Manager (CFM) has been redeveloped with enhancements to help families (1.) comprehend their colleges finances (2.) explore their options to pay for college and (3.) gain access to resources to meet their cost gap.

(1.) The CFM is an interactive tool that provides an education into financial aid, an often complicated process that challenges families who require assistance. Interactive tools, user-friendly movie tutorials and a library of authored articles are the framework to help students and parents become knowledgeable and informed throughout this process. The new version includes a useful college calculator to determine realistic cost of attendance plus a unique budgeting tool that integrates borrowing scenarios with career choices to help analyze future quality of life during repayment periods.

(2.) Once families understand their anticipated cost situation, the CFM provides an interactive guide to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This comprehensive step-by-step tool results in an accurate worksheet that families can use to file their official application with the government. Once completed, the family can explore their options to pay for college.

(3.) In one online location, the CFM also provides families access to resources available for additional funding opportunities. A complete scholarship finder allows students to search for scholarships, both national and local, for which they may qualify based on their own search criteria as well as career and major preferences they have integrated into their student profile. Parents can also add recommended scholarships to the list based on their own searches. The scholarship details are provided as well as directions and direct links to apply for the opportunity.

The student loan marketplace is available to families who need to locate additional opportunities to meet their cost gap. The CFM provides choices for families to consider without having to leave the platform. Once a family identifies an appropriate choice, the student or parent can navigate outside Connect! to the loan company’s application and begin a borrowing relationship with that organization. Throughout the year, families can return to Connect! to explore these expanding opportunities as their college financing situations change.

For Counselors
Connect! v5.1 brings counselors new features for the electronic delivery of transcripts to colleges. By request, a new data validator has been added so counselors can automatically verify that their data files have been properly formatted for direct upload into the Connect! platform. This allows for a quicker process in delivering electronic transcripts and letters of recommendation to colleges in the Connect! National Network™, a secure online community of students, parents, counselors, admissions officers and employers dedicated to seamless student transitions. Colleges in the network receive these electronic admissions documents from participating high schools to streamline the application process. In addition, automated verifications of receipt within Connect! also alleviate the stress often associated with college admissions process.
